Situation: Increasing sales of product for this consumer packaged goods marketer resulted in a strategy focused on the “grand-daddies” of product promotion – coupon and rebate offers.
How it worked:
- Millions of free standing inserts were distributed to consumers, each with 10 coupons for $1 off when consumers purchase participating products.
- In addition, millions of circulars were distributed with up to $10 refund certificates enclosed.
- To redeem $10.00, $3.75 and $1.50 rebates, consumers were required to mail-in 1 original product UPC, an original register receipt and mail-in certificate to receive their rebate amount.
iC Group insured the marketer against higher than anticipated redemption of the coupon and rebate offers.
